The Renaissance Osor Cathedral, the centre stage of this festival, has so far hosted almost eight hundred concerts, premiering over three hundred festival commissions from all generations of composers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The programmes of this Cres festival, in addition to canonical works of classical music of all eras, put forth the creation of key figures of modern and contemporary music in Croatia, with Boris Papandopulo, Stjepan \u0160ulek, Ivan Brkanovi\u0107, Miroslav Mileti\u0107, Igor Kuljeri\u0107, Stanko Horvat, and others taking the lead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their works, be they canonical works of Croatian music or compositions composed specifically for the Osor festival, have been interpreted by domestic and foreign ensembles and soloists. Along with local ensembles \u2013 an honourable mention must be given to the Croatian Radio and Television Choir and Symphony Orchestra, the Zagreb Soloists, the Zagreb Quartet, and the Cantus Ensemble \u2013 the festival regularly hosts prestigious performers from the international scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More than 85 musicians from ten countries will showcase their skills at this year\u2019s concerts featuring works by Croatian composers, with plans also in place for a special concert for the little ones. The festival opens with a concert by The King\u2019s Singers, who will premiere the piece Stra\u0161ni sud (\u201cLast Judgment,\u201d composed by Bla\u017eenko Jura\u010di\u0107 according to the lyrics of Marko Maruli\u0107), and will wrap up with the performance of Hekuba, kraljica Troje (\u201cHecuba, Queen of Troy\u201d), a rendition by Ensemble Dialogos, Katarina Livaljani\u0107, Kantadura, and Jo\u0161ko \u0106aleta .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
